I done a test Even in Computers with fast HD processors HEVC uses like 65% CPU .The sample I tested was only 1494 Kbps video bitrates 1080p.

Tested a file x264 it only uses 11% cpu with 4651 Kbps video bitrates.

While the videos look somewhat better with HEVC that's a 54% increase in CPU that sucks ass , Ill stay with x264 tell, If and when they ever fix the CPU issues with it.

The extra ware and tare on my PC is not worth it ,I could make my processor overclock by tweaking , but I want my machine to last, so I keep it stock , so why I watch something thats going ware out my PC faster.

So I don't recommend using this yet , Its only been in development to the public , since Sept. 2013

When reading up on it more, there's NO DirectX Video Acceleration for HEVC videos , Even when Microsoft release DirectX that supports HEVC , The problem is Microsoft defined the interface, but you also need hardware to support it - and this does not exist yet.

So you need an upgrade to something that don't exist yet. lmao

Quote: Q:
Will be any progress on the CPU-usage of HEVC videos?

A:That depends of ffmpeg progress on that but I'm pretty sure they will optimize decoding.

So we have to wait on ffmpeg to develop it for HEVC videos and our players and/or codec packs to upgrade to something else that dont exist yet ,lmao
