As so often you encode (or copy) the audiostream as AAC and not as the title says "DD" - which would mean "Dolby Digital" aka AC3.
It has a reason that the scene uses "Dolby Digital"->AC3 or DTS as the default audiocodecs for multichannel - the compatibility to all the multichannel receivers since decades!
So - please either change your naming to AAC, dont convert the audiofiles or (best) use AC3 codecs!

@Hausmarke all the x265 use AAC here it's all done by and automated script while it makes no sense to convert WEB-DL 1080p audio AC3 @384Kbps, CBR, 6CH to AAC @384Kbps, CBR, 6CH.

They encode many videos that have DTS files to AAC @384Kbps, CBR, 6CH. and because there is noting but bots encoding they not going change the script every time they get AC3 @384Kbps.

All sites that do x265 none that i know of are using AC3 but MKVCage witch is proper for 5.1 because of this.

If you want to output surround sound from a stereo surround sound capable amplifier/receiver, then your best option is files that are encoded with AC3, which is what you amplifier can decode as surround sound. DTS also is very good.

If you use AAC, and output it from your media player to the amp optically as the raw digital signal, the amp will not recognize and decode it, you will get silence. If you output it in an analog format the player will down mix it to stereo first. Same for outputting the audio signal via HDMI (amp will not recognize AAC surround) except many media players will just default to downmixing the AAC to stereo over HDMI.

If your goal is good stereo sound at the most compressed size, AAC is a newer and more efficient codec and yields comparable quality at a slighly more compressed size. Note that both AC3 and AAC are lossy codecs.

PS: PSA also uses AAC for 6CH ,R@RBG uses AAC for 6CH and the lest goes on and on Torrent groups have been using it for years .

All I can tell you if don't like it only download large x264 files done by the scene and better Torrent groups. This is not burger king were you have it your way . Torrent groups and Direct Download blog groups have no rules like the real scene do. It's there way or no way at all. If you don't like the tag rename it AAC 6CH x265 HEVC. lol

The "goal" is the right naming according to the scene rules! Otherwise comparing releases will be so much more complicated! And it would hurt anybody if anybody uses the right naming?
I for mylself like to like it when there is the think in the mkv which was described by its title...

@hausmarke If I'm not mistaken according to scene rules this should technically be called WEBRip instead of WEB-DL. But afaik RMTeam is not an official scene group and this naming scheme makes it more clear for us what the used source was (imo).

WEBRip vs WEB-DL are quiet near to each other - DD instead has nothing to to with AAC - "Dolby" is the name of the company which invented it - and they are absolutly nothing to to with the AAC standard by MPEG.

Actually RMTEAM unfortunatly reencode the original DD Track from the source release "The Upside 2017 1080p WEB-DL DD5 1 H264-FGT" into AAC.
If you know the technology then you know that´s not a very good idea to reencode an already lossy codec like DD into an another lossy one like AAC.
If you want to have quality you should use "direct stream copy" for the DD Audio Tracks and only convert the video track into hevc.

Webrip vs web-dl is actually a very important difference, web-dl having less reconversions.
However, I do agree that DD is not AAC and am aware of the fact that transcoding lossy to lossy is a bad idea. I'd also rather see they used a AC3 passthru option, but then again RMTeam makes more odd choices. I was just trying to come up with an explanation for RMTream naming conventions.

(If you really care you could always use MKVToolNix to mux in the audio track from the source.)

@Hausmarkethe reason for the wrong naming is it automated and copy the source tag they would have to ban DD from there automated renaming script. Scene rules have nothing do with this site . The Real Scene don't allow Hevc re-encode or 480p only x264 so everything here would be nuke!

@265ftw real web-dl has not been converted at all it was downloaded and the drm was removed . WebRip has been capped with a video card, If you go by the tags at this site and think your getting web-dl you are being deceived .There is no such thing as Netflix or Amazon Web-dl they get most of there TV shows from 2 different torrent sites one names it right WEBRip and the other names it wrong WEB-DL . So they encode the release 2 times here just different tags. The HDRip above came from a real iTunes WEB-DL source .

PS: iTunes WEB-DL which is real WEB-DL never have glitches or be out of sink . Only it gets a repack if it gets better Audio like if the source came with 2.0 sometimes the same group will release it again with 5.1.

Netflix and Amazon is fake Web-dl lots of times it gets repacks for have glitches or be out of sink also it's more dark looking than real WEB-DL or BluRay because it was capped with a video card and is just a WEBRip .

That's not the the way it works it's never a good idea to convert audio lossy to the same bitrate or upscale to a higher bitrate because you lose quality no matter what . but the scene have always downscaled lossy to a lower bit-rate for smaller releases

1st they done AC3 to 2 CH MP3 when they done XVID . Now they do only X264 re-encodes. English group scene rules say you must encode SD x264 down to 2ch AAC and nothing else .

X265 is meant to save on space just like 480p x264 and SD x264 is when they as large as some of the 1080p re-encodes at this site 2 and 3 gb you may as well just download the source .
I'm not going download no file that over 2 gb that was done off a 4 or 5 gb source . i downloaded the 720p of this from PSA a nice small file if you want untouched audio in most all cases you will have to download a source file.

Unless the website is nice enough to post it below the release and the can mux it yourself.

I know WEB-DL is directly from the stream service. What I meant is, it still is converted by said streaming service. This means WEB-DL has been converted once and WEBRip twice (or more).

I disagree though that AMZN and NF aren't real WEB-DL's. In my understanding, these tools are only available to a selective group of people as appossed to TunesKit which is publically available for everyone.

No there not real web-dl Netflix and Amazon updates there DRM all the time and breaks it even if it were possible to download a encrypted drm stream from them you would be able to play it back.

You can't even play 1080p Netflix in Chrome or Firefox without and Addon to trick into thinking it's EDGE browser because Microsoft is the only have the rights to play back 4k and 1080p or you can watch in a official Netflix app

You don't have to convert to remove DRM iTunes .All untouched blu-ray Disk had the drm removed without touching the video are audio same with untouched iTunes files they never update there drm it been cracked for years.

1. there is no information on they rip Netflix so anything you read about is made up because it's a secret. If it's made public it'll likely be patched.

2. Untouched iTunes files are like prefect they already cropped, they never have glitches or be OSS.

3. Netflix and Amazon rips have to repacks and proper a lot for having glitches and being OOS . Also the 1080p always has black bars unless it been re-encoded

4. It's Same as HDTV repacks and proper a lot for having glitches and being OOS because it been captured from the video card from a TV . Only thing that better about Netflix and Amazon is they don't have channel logos and ads in them like HDTV has . No way it's as good as untouched iTunes files except for Amazon have higher bitrate than iTunes so the files are larger . Netflix is really compressed and rips are low bitrate not even as good as iTunes.
